DoS Attacked Analysis

DoS Attacked means that a host in your network has been under a DoS or DDoS attack. A denial-of-service (DoS) attack or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make a computer resource unavailable to its intended users. One common method of attack involves saturating the target (victim) machine with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by either forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consuming its resources so that it can no longer provide its intended service or obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately. Therefore, depending on the received traffic, Capsa is able to identify the DoS attack on the following characteristics:

A host or server under a DoS attack is very serious, and there are many preventions and responses to this kind of attack. In case your network is attacked and to help you make quick responds to this attack, you'd better look up some remedies and set up your own procedures to deal with this attack.

DoS attack will be recognized against their default threshold values, you can customize these values to let Capsa find out the problems more accurately in your network, read Security Analysis Settings for details.
